    Heartsaver First Aid is available in two different training methods – blended learning and classroom training. The Heartsaver First Aid course options teach the same AHA science-based skills and result in the same AHA Course Completion Card. This program is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs an AHA course completion card. You will learn: First aid basics Medical emergencies Injury emergencies Environmental emergencies Preventing illness and injury First Aid instruction includes bandaging, bleeding, wounds, choking, shock, seizure, fainting, broken bones, sprains, burns, bites, stings, poison, and temperature-related conditions, to name a few.     Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogen Classroom Course The Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens course teaches students how to protect themselves and others from being exposed to blood or blood-containing materials. This course is designed to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site-specific instruction. Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogen Online Course This course is designed to meet OSHA requirements for bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site-specific instruction. Upon completion of the online course, students receive a course completion certificate that can be presented to employers.     Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED The Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED is a classroom-based course designed to meet the 8 hours of EMSA child care training that includes Pediatric First Aid CPR and AED use. This American Heart Association course meets part of the EMSA regulatory requirements for child care workers in the state of California. It teaches child care providers and others to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. The course covers the four steps of pediatric First Aid, CPR AED, and asthma care training, illnesses and injuries, child and infant safety checklist, how children act and tips for Interacting with them, CPR AED and Choking: CPR and AED for Adult, Children & Infant, How to Help a Choking Adult, Child & Infant. The course is for those involved in child care that have a duty to respond to a first aid emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements. This audience includes child care workers, teachers, foster care workers, camp counselors, youth organizations and coaches for children’s sports organizations. This course is also ideal for parents, grandparents, babysitters and guardians.

    Preventive Health and Safety Training is a classroom-based course designed to meet the 8-hours of California Emergency Medical Authority (EMSA) state licensing requirements for child care. The training provides instruction that is comprehensive and practical- it prepares administrators and employees of child care centers and family child homes-small or large to keep the children in their care healthy and safe from injury and illness. Participants will learn information about infectious diseases (including immunizations), preventative childhood injuries, caring for children with special needs, identification, reporting of child abuse, childcare nutrition training, and Lead Poisoning Prevention Training.

    Basic Life Support The AHA’s BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings. Advance Cardic Life Support ACLS Provider course is for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies and for personnel in emergency response. Pediatric Advance Life Support PALS course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children and for personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units.

    Become An Instructor Learn The Right Way Make A Difference in Your Community Hopewell CPR Training is an American Heart Association Training Center and we are happy to let you know that we are accepting instructors for alignment. If you are looking to becoming a new instructor, change alignment or qualify to renew your instructor status, we can help. Instructor Essentials AHA BLS Instructor Course BLS instructor candidates must meet certain requirements before taking the Instructor Essentials Course. Before attending the hands-on session (facilitated by faculty), all instructor candidates must: Be at least 18 years of age Be aligned with an AHA TC − Instructor candidates must have a TC that has agreed to accept them as an instructor once they have completed Instructor Essentials and their monitoring is completed. Have a current AHA BLS Provider course completion card Be proficient in the skills of BLS − If we feel that instructor candidates need to be retested in their skills of BLS, this will be included as part of the Instructor Essentials Course. Complete an Instructor Candidate Application Successfully complete the online portion of Instructor Essentials. As a BLS Instructor, candidates will also be able to teach any course within the Heartsaver portfolio. Even though instructor candidates will be able to teach both BLS Provider and Heartsaver courses after completing the BLS Instructor Essentials Course, you need only a BLS Provider card to take BLS Instructor Essentials. Steps to become an AHA BLS Instructor There are 4 steps to become an AHA Instructor. For successful completion, instructor candidates must: Be accepted by an AHA Training Center (TC) before enrolling in an Instructor Essentials Course and have a completed Instructor Candidate Application on file with that TC. Have current AHA Provider status in the discipline for that Instructor Essentials Course and be proficient in all the skills of that discipline Successfully complete the Instructor Essentials Course, including both the online and hands-on session. Successfully be monitored teaching within 6 months after completing the hands-on session of the Instructor Essentials Course (Training Center Coordinators [TCCs] may require additional monitoring, if needed). AHA Alignment Transfer Request If you are already an AHA BLS Instructor and looking to transfer your alignment to a local Training Center that meet your needs or seeking a secondary alignment, we are currently accepting alignments to our Training Center.
